With a Thousand Lies and a Good Disguise

Wed Jan 21, 2009, 5:00 PM
The Offspring - You're Gonna Go Far Kid (you know... journal title...credit where credit is due)

So between fall and winter I can't say I accomplished much. But all of that's changing. But i actually feel like talking about other stuff right now.

Cody is officially incapable of being a "business associate." On top of his school/job schedule which puts him out of the house for half the day most days he's got a girl friend now. So there goes all the free time he had... jack ass.

Oh well. That's pretty much fall. Autumn was bla. Winter was awesome.

I got a couple cats. One that just sits there (Ghost Kitty) and one that bounces off the walls now and barks for food, so cute (Myr).

Christmas was bla. No more magic between my family on Christmas morning. Just got a bunch of games. I guess that attitude is the result/cause of the lack of holiday spirit.

A couple weeks after the 25th I ordered the last of my gifts; a Wacom Tablet. Got it super cheap too. 60$ off the normal price and free shipping. Not even eBay or anything could match that for a brand new one of these. Apparently the catch is that I have to wait 3 weeks for it TwT the company sells it's products in bulk or something, so they just take in a bunch of orders then ship em all off at once. Works for me. I can finally get to working on webcomics and such.

New years was awesome. Jess had a party. Nuff said. But I'll say more cause I know you want details... cause I know you care so much about this... frankly if you aren't Jess I'm surprised you read this far at all. Anyways there are 3 things that I'll mention about this party that I'll always remember. 2 games of 4-way chess and my friend Sean was out with-in the first 15 minutes both times. Priceless. Fiacco hitting on me Landers. Also Priceless. And Jess spending 15 lives getting past a hole on the first level of Megaman X. Super Pricless. Of course that didn't happen on new years eve, I just can't put a date on it.

She had a second party (kinda) later just for Nick, cause it's important to see your friends whenever possible. I never really thought there would be friends I'd never see again, that never seemed to be the case with anyone, but now I'm worried mostly because the people I haven't seen since high school are apparently becoming quite douchey. But ya, Nick, fun times. Watched Chappelle Show (still don't care for it) and played a Playstation game. Nope not PS3, not even PS2, f'n Playstation. Wutang Clan
Shaolin Style (close enough), which is basically street gangs meets ninja turtles, hilarious. You never appreciate how much games have evolved until you go back and play something on Playstation. Not so much Super Nintendo, because 2-D is still very appreciated in my book.

Band stuff; Chris had like 4 weeks off so he came back from Boston. We were supposed to have a whole new set of songs, and a bunch of old ones finished and recorded "professionally." But that's be silly. Why should things go as planned. We both kinda miffed. I had to miss the first important session of the first week because I had to be with my friend because her friend died. It would've been different if her family members would stop dying 8( but shit happens. And then in between the first week and the last week Chris was spending a lot of time with his new girl friend. It wouldn't have been a big deal if he wasn't in buffalo for freakin' 2 weeks. So what was supposed to be 10 days of solidity became 5 days of struggle. The 3 new songs were a bust because I suck at making drum beats and because Chris can't open Reason (midi/recording program) without spending at least an hour messing around with shit that isn't the immediate idea.

Hehe I complain a lot.

The only other thing that was a problem was the mics. It's not such a big deal to me that we split renting mics down the middle, it only becomes a problem when you're buying your fresh-out-of-the-box girl friend gold jewelry and complaining about money being tight. Recording was awful. I don't know why but every time we rent mics something goes horribly wrong. I guess insufficient information would be the cause this time. Genius decided to use a new mixer for the first time for this and look what happens. The microphones that didn't require an outside power source wouldn't work with the mixer. Any change he tried to make wouldn't go through, and the sound itself had incredibly low gain. *sigh*

OK, good points; I honestly love the new songs that I'm making. It's a real pleasure to go back over the years and take note on how I've changed as an artist. Difference in style would be the most noticeable. I thoroughly enjoyed the ability to go beyond using the C-G-D chord thing that happens TOO FUCKING MUCH. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll be able to finish up the songs and get them to Chris. I'm contemplating going back to Boston to play some shows over the summer... but I really don't want to because I hate it there and I hate Chris's friends and the kind of person he's... well always been.

I know there are things I'm leaving out or forgetting. I just can't seem to keep good track of things that happen lately. Dates events, conversations, etc. So ya, happy 2009 everyone. Use your last three years wisely.

The world is too much with us; late and soon,
